BLT Salad with Buttermilk Dressing Recipe

BLT Salad with Buttermilk Dressing
START TO FINISH 30 minutes
SERVES 4

Ingredients:

  • 2 Tbsp. crème fraîche or sour cream
  • 2 Tbsp. mayonnaise
  • 1 Tbsp. snipped fresh dill weed
  • 1 Tbsp. apple cider vinegar
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1⁄4 cup buttermilk or sour milk*
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 heads romaine lettuce
  • Olive oil
  • 4 slices bacon, crisp-cooked
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1⁄2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (2 oz.)


Directions:

  1. For dressing, in a bowl whisk together the fi rst fi ve ingredients (through garlic). Whisk in buttermilk. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
  2. Cut each head of lettuce in half lengthwise. Brush the lettuce halves all over with oil; season with salt and pepper. Grill lettuce, uncovered, over medium heat about 2 minutes or until lightly charred, turning once.
  3. Place lettuce portions on a serving platter with bacon and cherry tomatoes. Drizzle lettuce with dressing and top with cheese.
